How to Select a Jeweler

Four Basic Rules for Selecting a Jeweler

Rule #1: Shop for your jeweler — then shop for your jewelry.

If a jeweler listens carefully to questions, then answers them in a way that will help you make an informed choice, they’re the jeweler for you.

Rule #2: Make sure your jeweler treats you with the respect you deserve.

If you walk in jewelry store and the staff doesn’t want to help you because you appear young or not serious, don’t give them another minute of your valuable time. At Smith & Co., we have satisfied customers from every age group and circumstance — just read the testimonials.

Rule #3: If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

Diamonds, gold and platinum are rare precious materials prized the world over. If a jeweler wants to discount an item heavily to get you to buy it, something is wrong. Smith & Co. doesn't have sales. We only have good values, 365 days a year, because we price our items fairly to begin with — rather than marking them up to give you an artificial "discount."

Rule #4: Services and other important after-sale offers add value to your purchase.

Don’t judge the value of your purchase strictly on the price. Also take into account what your jeweler provides after you buy — such as sizing, engraving, appraisal and trade-up. At Smith & Co. we’ve never sold a diamond we wouldn't welcome back — so we offer an unlimited trade-in and trade-up policy with guaranteed diamond value appreciation. And don't forget the other less glamorous but important steps in owning a fine jewelry piece, like keeping your ring fitting and looking great, or advising you on insurance. Smith & Co. will be your jeweler every step of the way. Read the testimonials to see what we mean.
